Morocco Visa Requirements & Entry Rules 2026

Most Western travellers don't need a visa — but a few rules trip up even seasoned travellers.

Visa-exempt nationalities (90 days)

EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Norway, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and most of Latin America. No paperwork — just a passport stamp on arrival.

The e-visa programme

Travellers from India, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Israel, Azerbaijan, Jordan, and a handful of others can apply online at acces-maroc.ma. Processing is around 72 hours, valid 30/60 days.

Passport rules

Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond entry date. Must have one blank page for stamps. Damaged passports are routinely refused — replace before travel.

Length of stay

Standard tourist entry: 90 days. Extensions require a trip to a Moroccan police prefecture — most travellers just exit to Spain (Ceuta, Melilla, ferry to Tarifa) and re-enter for another 90 days.

Entry forms & customs

A short paper arrival card is handed out on flights — fill in fully (address = your first hotel/riad). Customs allowance: 1L spirits, 200 cigarettes, no drones, no satellite phones.

Land borders

Open: Spain (Ceuta, Melilla — pedestrian crossings), Mauritania (one crossing, only with own vehicle). Closed: Algeria (since 1994 — do not attempt).

Frequently asked

Can I extend my 90-day stay?

Yes — apply at the Prefecture de Police in your city of residence with a letter explaining the reason. Often easier to do a short visa run to Spain.

What if I overstay?

Fines and possible refusal of future entry. Don't risk it.
