The Story
Hundreds of ksour line the Drâa — and most of them are empty. We walk through collapsed courtyards where caïds once held court, climb crumbling watchtowers, and decipher the family marks still painted above doorways no living soul has crossed in fifty years.
History
Most Drâa kasbahs were built between 1650 and 1900 from pisé — sun-dried rammed earth. The 1969 floods, and the lure of cities, emptied them in a single generation.
