The Story
Long after the last camel bell fades, the dunes begin to move. Beneath the cooling sand, a horned viper waits. Our expedition follows herpetologists into the empty quarter — recording bite-pressure data, mapping nocturnal hunting trails, and confronting the most venomous reptile of North Africa under the cold light of the moon.
History
Berber caravans once paid tribute to the 'lefa' before crossing these dunes. The viper appears on 2,400-year-old amulets unearthed near Sijilmasa.
